They did things to me that should never have been thought of, Dax. Horrible, terrible things. And then I did worse, because they told me to. Because they hopped me up on something even stronger than whatever Gol Acheron was taking, something that made me unstoppable and impossible and stronger than the sun.
And the worst part of it all is that I still don’t know whether or not to feel bad for what I did, who I killed under their orders. They touched me in all the wrong ways and pushed me in all the wrong directions, showed me things I never wanted to see. And they showed me that I was the one doing them. They made me a monster, and I’m not talking about that thing that I turned into. They wanted a weapon, and they made one. See, Dax, things are different. I’m not the same person Erol took two years ago. I’m not your best friend anymore. I don’t want to hurt you like I hurt all those people under Praxis’ orders, I don’t want to wake up one morning covered in your blood and not remember what I did or who I did it to. You’re too important to me for that, you mean too much. I don’t want to ever hurt you, ever touch you like they did me, and that’s why, I think, you should stay here when I go find that Torn guy Kor told us about. This isn’t your fight, you don’t have to die for it. I don’t want you to die for it. Most of all, I don’t want to be the one that kills you. If we stay together like we were before, then I know I will be. I’m grateful to you for saving me, for finding me when it came down to the end, but I can’t bear the thought of being responsible for hurting you. I can’t. You have to understand that, Dax... Sounds tingly. And scary. He did stuff on their orders? Now I'm frightened. I'd always gotten the impression that they considered him a failed experiment...
I'm VERY interested in how Dax will take this. Simply yelling at Jak might not be enough.. Jak's genuinely afraid that he will hurt/kill Dax. Genuinely afraid of what he feels to be inevitable. How can anything Dax say right now, alleviate that worry? (Unless he just clings to Jak's bak and refuses to let go.)
Then again... the Dark saw Dax and didn't kill him. He changed back. Hmmm...
