On the world of Arashash, there is a booming slave trade. Every slave knows that there are two groups you do not want to be sold into: a master of your own species--because there's no doubt you'll end up more than a hunter or a maid--or a Widower Spider. Spiders in general tend to be good masters for a slave to serve because there's no way a spider would ever find a mammal attractive, but Widower Spiders are known to be vindictive and extremely unpleasant to associate with. Obviously they're male Widow Spiders, but the only males to survive are the ones that look extremely feminine--slimmer than most males, larger and darker in color--and force themselves to never trust anyone. As a result they're very harsh masters, perfectionists to a fault and cunning as a demon.
This is K'moh Sianan, and he has an entire army of slaves at his beck and call. However, in spire of his being a Widower Spider he's a decent sort of man--a bit malicious sometimes and rather untrusting to anyone outside his household, but not as bad as the rest of his kind. The reason for this is the same reason he's missing his left back leg and left index finger, as well as the reason for the scar in his facial exoskeleton; the war ten years ago forced several people into trusting and believing in things they normally wouldn't touch with a ten-foot-pole, and K'Moh is one of them.
This is one of the main characters from an as-yet-untitled story I'm working on revolving around a master-spider--K'Moh--and a slave-mouse--Karish--and how she learns that stereotypes aren't always accurate and a person is not defined by their species. There's also a war and whatnot, of course, but mostly it's a learning experience for Karish. K'Moh is a genius who sort of manipulates her into learning things she doesn't want to know but has to to survive.
Like I said, he's a decent sort.
This is only a rough coloring, though it still took several hours. I was trying to settle on a tint color for his exoskeleton and ended up on red. How does it look?
Absolutely! I'll probably be posting it in my LJ Arts Community when it's actually available. I hope to have the first chapter finishe by the end of this month, but I write so slowly I can't promise anything.

I rather like them, myself, but black widow spiders give me the heebie-jeebies. Hence why I decided to make my main spider a Widower... I'll get over the creepy eventually! I know I will!

Some people have been asking me about this stuff so I decided to gather all information in one single article on how to make your own portfolio, in a profesional and clean looking way. I hope it's useful, because these steps I myself take.
DeviantArt is full of extremely well produced artistic fashion and fine art photographs. Make up. Styling. Creation of scenery. Story. Light. Glamour. A combination of these expressions sometimes make up a great photograph. But the protagonists of these pictures are usually female.
So... now it's the time for male models to come into focus.

`karemelancholia is one of the most genuine deviants you could ever met. Always active and a true deviantART cheerleader and supporter in every aspect. You can always count on her to lend a hand or get involved, and you usually will find her doing large amounts of both at any given moment. She's consistently reports on contests around dA, showcases the efforts of her fellow artists and shows her charitable side through various activities. Besides all of this, she's a truly talented artist which is why she's an obvious choice for deviousness this month. Read More

98% of Deviants don't know the difference between "your" and "you're." If you're one of the 2% that wants to punch 'em, put this in your sig.
